About Allison Boyd

A graduate of Samford University, Ms. Boyd earned her law degree from the University Of Alabama School Of Law and her Masters in Business Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Ms. Boyd practiced in Tuscaloosa as an associate with Spruell & Powell, Inc. in the areas of insurance defense, probate, divorce and real estate law prior to joining the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office. During her tenure with the District Attorney’s Office Ms. Boyd was responsible for the prosecution of crimes against children, violent felony crimes and was the prosecutor for both the Mental Health Court and Drug Court programs. In January 2016, Ms. Boyd was appointed to serve as Mental Health Program Coordinator and Legal Counsel to the Shelby County Judge of Probate. In addition to her other duties with the Probate Office, Ms. Boyd has been appointed as a Special Probate Judge and presides over adoptions, commitments and other matters as assigned by the Probate Judge. Ms. Boyd serves on several state-wide committees including the Alabama Law Institute Adoption Committee, the Alabama Law Institute Adoptions Process Subcommittee, and the Alabama WINGS Taskforce. She serves on the Board of Directors of Leadership Shelby County and as the President of the Advisory Board of Shelby Volunteers in Service, a county non-profit benefiting senior citizens and volunteer efforts in Shelby County. She is a member of the Shelby County Bar Association, the Shelby County Republican Executive Committee, the Republican Women of Shelby County and NAMI Shelby. She and her family are members of Asbury United Methodist church where she is a member of the Church Council, has served as a DISCIPLE group leader and a Sunday School Teacher. She is a Girl Scout Troop leader for a troop of 1st grade Daisy Scouts and 2nd grade Brownie Scouts. She resides in North Shelby County with Candler Boyd, her husband of 17 years, her nine year old son, and seven year old daughter.
