About Allison Berkoy

I am an artist, designer, and educator working with emerging technologies to create interactive experiences between physical, digital, and computational spaces. I am interested in how we can tell stories differently, and shift perception, through code and mutable media. Currently I am an Assistant Professor of Emerging Media Technology at New York City College of Technology, City University of New York (CUNY). Previously I taught across art, design, and engineering programs at Pratt Institute, New York University, and the University of Tennessee. As an artist, I regularly create videos, interactive installations, electronic sculptures, and performances between people and machines. See for more. As a designer, I have worked with commercial agencies (such as ESI Design and Sparks) as an experience and interactive designer, leading audiovisual designs for museum, architectural, and gaming projects. I have wide ranging experiences designing event installations, real-time audiovisual experiences, video projects, and projection designs. I received my MFA in Electronic Arts from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, concentrating in interactive media and immersive design. My approach to interaction, environment, and narrative are deeply influenced by roots in performance; with a Masters in Performance Studies from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts, and a Bachelors in Theatre from Northwestern University.
