Fostering Hope TN, Inc is designated to support, advocate, and promote improved foster and adoptive care for children in state\'s custody. Fostering Hope TN, Inc provides backpacks and suitcases to children in the foster care system. The children we serve are from 0-21 years old who are already in the foster care system, are transitioning into other homes, are returning to their birth families, or youth who are aging out of the system. There are over children in Tennessee who are in the foster care system and over 700 are located in Knoxville. Children coming into foster care rarely have any belongings and when they move homes they sometimes only have the clothes on their backs initially. Having items the children can claim as their own is so important and helps children feel safe and secure. Making sure these children move without their stuff thrown in trash bags is one of our missions. We are currently seeking donations to fill the suitcases and backpacks. We would like all items to be new or gently used and our wish list can be found at Walmart.com under Fostering Hope or under our co-founder, Chante Hensley.Fostering Hope TN, Inc was started by our family in 2013 as a non-profit to meet the needs of children and families from the Child Welfare System. I am the President and my granddaughter and I are the co-founders of the organization. We created the agency to help children in the foster care system feel a sense of hope and self-worth. Many children were moving homes with trash-bags as their luggage and once people started hearing about this travesty the community the community came together to make a difference in these children\'s lives.
