Between February 2009 and April 2015 I was the Executive Director for Finance and Commercial at North Hertfordshire College. I had responsibility for strategic finance, property, IT and commercial development particularly relating to employers and their requirements. Previously, I was the finance director and company secretary for the Institute of the Motor Industry. The Institute of the Motor Industry is the retail automotive sector’s professional body, awarding body and sector skills council. I originally trained as a chartered accountant and worked in public practice for 14 years. During this time I was also heavily involved in the family business of window fitting, participating in all aspects from sales accountancy and product installation.
