About Alka Aggarwal Singh

I am a physician with about 25 years’ experience in public health/healthcare. Since Aug 2022, I have two roles. In one role I work as a free-lance consultant working with national and international agencies (WHO, Stop TB Partnership, MSH, DFAT). Since 2023, I am a serving Technical Panel Review member of the GF. I look forward to working on projects that improve quality of services and make healthcare accessible. My recent work includes a) Active case finding for TB in South-East Asia, b) governance of national TB programs, c) multi-sectoral accountability for TB. These reports are on the websites of WHO and Stop TB Partnership housed at UNOPS. I advise governments and international agencies on implementation and scaling up of healthcare programs, developing national strategies, training programs, improving quality of services, increasing access to diagnostic and treatment services for the patients, improving quality and use of data, and strengthening systems for monitoring and evaluation. I support governments for funding applications. I think I am good with collaboration. I have worked with WHO, Global Fund and other international agencies for several countries in Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe in the domain of infectious diseases (Tuberculosis, HIV, Malaria) and health system strengthening, supporting multi-million dollar grants. Since leaving global fund I\'ve also worked for hypertension control and mental health. Because of my medical training and long term experience with technical and financing organizations I can take this experience to other health care programs. My education is from different parts of the world. I\'ve recently expanded my skills through diploma in family medicine (CMC Vellore, India) and diploma in community mental health (NIMHANS, India) and Existential Well-Being counseling from KU Leuven (2022) on edX. My second role is as Founder and Partner of Alagsi Health and Development Pvt. Ltd. We work with national and international organizations for health and development programs. We believe in service, accountability, collaboration and excellence. I love doing what I am doing! My hobbies are yoga, running and writing. My children’s story on tuberculosis was published by the World Health Organization. I self-published a story, ‘More Than One’ on women’s perspectives and expressions.
