ABOUT ALJON JIRO CLAVERIA
I am Aljon (Jiro) Claveria, a purpose-driven student leader and organizer with a deep commitment to advancing health equity, public policy, and restorative public service. My work spans health research, nonprofit organizing, and policy advocacy, anchored in a belief that meaningful systems change begins with community voice and representation.At UC Santa Cruz, I have been heavily involved in student government and organizations that helped me contribute in advancing student-centered policy and co-organize initiatives that connect institutional advocacy with grassroots power. Beyond campus, my work with nonprofit focused on civic leadership in the Filipina/x/o and AAPI community has allowed me to engage directly with public policy, voter engagement, and community health equity. I’ve helped train volunteers, co-lead campaigns in local elections, and participate in statewide advocacy for marginalized communities.I thrive at the intersection of leadership, health equity work, and systems change. Rooted in mentorship, I’m driven by collaborative discovery and meaningful storytelling where I strive to empower underrepresented communities to innovate at every level of science and public policy and to lead a world where facts and science shape how we live and govern.
