ABOUT ALIZA POLKES
I am a PhD student in clinical psychology at LIU Brooklyn with an interest in developmental and complex trauma, conversion disorder/functional neurological disorder, and psychoanalytic treatment. Prior to pursuing psychology, I studied English and journalism and worked in marketing in New York and Tel Aviv. Since 2021 I have worked at the Veterans Affairs (VA) NY Harbor Healthcare System in Dr. Cory Chen’s Psychotherapy Research and Development Program (PRDP) Lab. I am currently an extern at the VA, working on the Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Suicide Prevention (MBCT-S) project.
