ABOUT ALIYANNA GORDON
I’m a Commerce student at Saint Mary’s University who cares deeply about youth voice, equity, and creating meaningful change in communities. Through my volunteer work with the Students Commission of Canada, I’ve helped facilitate national conversations on social issues that matter to young people, while learning the importance of leadership, active listening, and collaboration. In 2024, I was named one of Canada’s Top 100 Black Women (2nd in the Promising Youth category), and I’ve been honoured to receive the Lieutenant Governor’s Respectful Citizenship Award twice, recognitions I’m truly grateful for.I’m also proud to be a Sobeys National Innovator, a Sobeys Scholar, having received a scholarship from the Sobeys Family, the Sobeys Foundation, and Empire Company Limited. Their support has encouraged me to pursue business not just as a career, but as a way to create inclusive, community-centered impact.Academically and professionally, I’m interested in the intersection between business strategy, social impact, and consumer behavior. I’m drawn to management, marketing, and entrepreneurship, particularly how brands build trust, create inclusive spaces, and adapt to changing markets.Outside of school, I enjoy reading, especially about human behavior and psychology, and reflecting on how we grow, connect, and lead with empathy.I’m always open to learning from others and connecting with people who are passionate about purposeful business, youth leadership, and community building.
