ABOUT ALIYA CANNON

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work with a minor in Social Justice and Human Addiction from Northern Kentucky University (NKU). During my time at NKU, I had the honor of serving as Student Government Association President and Regent, National Pan-Hellenic Council President, and Basileus of the Rho Chi Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Additionally, I represented the sorority on both the International and Regional Boards of Directors as the Youth Service Coordinator for the Central Region.I later pursued my Master of Education in College Student Affairs Administration at the University of Georgia, where I served as a Graduate Resident in Creswell Hall. During this time, I gained valuable experience through internships with the Dean of Students Office and Student Leadership Programs, deepening my commitment to student engagement and holistic development.Currently, I serve as the Family Resource Coordinator at Hartstern Elementary, where I provide holistic support to students and families, foster meaningful family engagement, and act as a first responder for families in crisis or need. In this role, I oversee our Advisory Council, plan and execute family engagement events, manage school communications, coordinate health screenings and athletic programs, and connect families with essential community resources and partnerships.In addition to my work in family and community support, I proudly serve as the Advisor for the Lambda Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. at Kentucky State University, where I mentor and guide collegiate Sigma women in leadership, service, and sisterhood.
