About Ivan Escamilla
I currently work as a Grants Analyst at Global Ties U.S, where I support the country’s largest and oldest citizen diplomacy network of nonprofit organizations, with 90+ members implementing exchange programs in all 50 U.S. states, including the U.S. Department of State\'s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).Prior to moving to Washington, DC, I went abroad for 10 months to research foreign laborers and immigration in Sendai, Japan, through a Fulbright Scholarship. I graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington, with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies with Departmental Honors and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Studies in 2015. My International Studies B.A. honors capstone thesis was titled \"Solidarity in Japan: Advocating Temporary Foreign Workers through Unions.\"I have a deep interest in international issues, particularly those regarding immigration, labor, security, human rights, international exchange, and public diplomacy. Regions of interest include East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.
