ABOUT ALI R. TAYYEB
Dr. Ali R. Tayyeb is a United States Navy Veteran, having served as a Fleet Marine Force Corpsman with Naval Medical Center San Diego, 1st Marine Division, and 3rd Marine Division.Following his military service, Dr. Tayyeb pursued a career in nursing, earning his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing from California State University, Los Angeles, and his Ph.D. from the University of San Diego. His professional experiences span combat trauma, emergency medicine, education, human patient simulation, professional development, leadership, veterans’ healthcare, and policy.Dr. Tayyeb is a Jonas Veterans Healthcare Scholar Alumnus and the Creator, Producer, and Host of the RN-Mentor Podcast and RN-Mentor Blog. He is also the creator of RN-Doodle, DOC’s Veterans Corner, Zero Dark Thirty, and the Hike 2 Thrive program.He currently serves as CEO of RN-Mentor Consulting, LLC, Consultant for the Los Angeles County Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, and Nursing Professional Practice Expert at the largest Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in the nation.Dr. Tayyeb’s research, education, and advocacy interests focus on veteran-related topics including transition from military service, post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injuries, depression, substance use, pain, suicide, family environment, disenfranchisement, policy, culture, and reintegration.Building on his veteran-centric foundation, Dr. Tayyeb’s work now extends to the exploration of social contracts and ethics in nursing practice—examining how collective responsibility, moral agency, and systemic accountability shape professional identity, leadership, and public trust in healthcare. His ongoing efforts aim to strengthen social and ethical frameworks that support both individual practitioners and the broader nursing community.Dr. Tayyeb holds a Certificate in Effective College Instruction through the Association of College and University Educators in collaboration with the American Council on Education. He is ANCC board certified in Nursing Professional Development and a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. Deeply invested in professional growth, advocacy, and the arts, Dr. Tayyeb continues to push the boundaries of nursing through diversity of people, thought, and practice-anchored in ethics, social justice, and the enduring covenant between nurses and society.
