ABOUT ALISTAIR MCARTHUR

I am an experienced employment lawyer with particular expertise in advising on and dealing with recruitment practices, terms and conditions of employment, discrimination and harassment, termination of contracts and dismissals, the enforcement of post-termination obligations, transfer of undertakings on acquisition and disposal of businesses, restructuring and redundancies. With a history of acting for banks, financial institutions, manufacturers, retailers as well as companies in the hospitality, logistics and technology sectors, I am accomplished at providing commercial and pragmatic advice to leading blue chip organisations. I am also commercially astute and with an aptitude for negotiation. I take on work with enthusiasm and a desire to succeed in all matters. My main consideration, however, is taking care to understand my client’s aims and problems at the outset so that I can develop strategies with my client to obtain the best outcome possible.I qualified as a solicitor in 2004. From 2006 to 2014, I worked at a leading niche employment law practice, being promoted to Associate and then Senior Associate. From 2014, I joined Herrington and Carmichael as Partner and Head of the Employment Department. I am recognised by Legal 500.
