While I originally started substitute teaching to help the teachers teaching exclusively in Spanish in the Dual-Immersion program, I really enjoy substitute teaching a variety of classes and age groups. I have gotten to spend the last 6+ years substitute teaching a lot of the same students in Spanish Immersion classes ranging from Kindergarten to High School. It has been so fun watching them grow up and improve their Spanish language abilities. To be honest my own Spanish language skills have improved immensely through this very unique opportunity. One of my favorite parts of substitute teaching in Spanish classes is getting to encourage and inspire students with my own journey and experiences learning Spanish as a second language. I love to help discouraged students learn how to improve in the areas of Spanish that are the most challenging for them, and how to do it in ways that are fun so that they will actually want to do it.
