I’m responsible for providing advice & support to business owners, normally in circumstances where a strategic business decision is required and the options aren’t clear or where the process is unfamiliar and confusing. Many clients I work with experience stress and a variety of challenges whilst running their business. I can help by clarifying the options, providing guidance through the process and helping them to make the right choice so that:• My client concentrates on running the business,• Personal stress is reduced, negotiating from an unemotional position and leading the process,• I can make introductions to trusted and local legal representatives or financiers,• Tax is minimised by working closely with my tax colleagues.I have helped a number of clients to successfully dispose of their businesses, in most cases, finding the ultimate buyer, negotiating deal terms and leading the deal to conclusion.Like most of my Corporate Finance peers, I can assist with business acquisitions, using a national network of potential investors looking for investment opportunities. I compile financial Due Diligence reports to ensure there are no hidden surprises for a purchaser. However, it’s the additional services that can really add value, services such as:• Business/share valuation reports. Understanding where the value lies in a business to inform strategic planning decisions and provide a basis for enhancing value, useful for a business owner considering a sale or incentivising employees through share schemes.• Financial Forecasts. The analytical and financial skills I gained in a banking environment allow me to easily understand fund raising options and criteria and to communicate these without the jargon. I provide support to business owners, helping them to create, preserve or extract value from their business. This includes a variety of services associated with acquiring and selling companies. The service I give each client is bespoke and designed to meet a specific set of requirements that are different each time, just like individual businesses. I focus on helping clients to understand their options, guiding them through the process and achieving a good result on their behalf. I aim to remove stress and allow them to concentrate on running their business. The specialist nature of my role has enabled me to gain valuable experience, particularly in company sales and acquisitions and I’ve worked with a wide range of (usually) local businesses, large and small, across a range of sectors. One of the challenges for a business owner is understanding the value of their business and where this lies. This is often the starting point for the planning process, be it growing value and profits, raising funds or as part of a general exit strategy. I am the firm’s expert in this field, having completed many share valuation reports especially where the share price requires agreement by HMRC. Friends and colleagues know me for my sense of humour, energy and positive attitude. I have a straight-talking approach but am people focussed. I enjoy interacting with people, building collaborative working relationships and finding a solution that brings peace of mind.
