About Alison Alter
AUSTIN CITY COUNCIL DISTRICT 10 On December 13, 2016 I was elected to represent District 10 on the Austin City Council. My council priorities include managing growth responsibly, protecting open and green spaces, addressing transportation challenges, promoting transparent and effective government, investing in our children, and fostering civic engagement. CONNECTING PEOPLE, IDEAS, AND OPPORTUNITIES TO ACHIEVE MEANINGFUL RESULTS. Throughout my career, I have made connections across complex challenges or disciplines and helped others to capitalize on these possibilities. My extensive development and program management experience includes work with corporations, foundations, nonprofits, governments, universities, and individuals. I have launched projects, developed funding streams, distributed awards, and encouraged participation for both local and globally focused initiatives. I also have stewarded programs through ongoing growth and change. In my philanthropic advising practice, I draw on over 20 years of experience working in higher education and the nonprofit sector to help clients give more confidently. I have identified opportunities and facilitated learning and action in multiple settings across a wide spectrum of endeavors: social entrepreneurship, education, leadership development, food security, energy, global governance, international law, arts and sciences, community organization, public policy, and child development. I am passionate about the power of education and the value of extending lifelong learning opportunities to all. Dr. Alter is a 21/64 certified multi-generational philanthropy consultant.
