ABOUT ALISON WARD

I believe that when communities play an active role in creating, developing, and managing local assets like housing, buildings, and land, they feel a stronger sense of ownership than if those assets were simply given or sold to them. With the right tools and support, local people in communities can achieve almost anything. I believe that land ownership brings power and influence, and by taking on and developing these assets, communities become stronger and more resilient. Most of my career has been dedicated to identifying and providing the tools and resources communities need to succeed. This includes: Providing practical and technical advice on project steps, from finding the best legal and financial frameworks to solving problems as projects evolve. Supporting community groups in building strong partnerships, whether with local authorities, housing associations, or other organisations, by brokering introductions, translating technical information, and developing mutual understanding. Helping community groups establish credibility with local communities and broader stakeholders, including funders. Supporting community leadership by sharing knowledge, advocating for change, and developing tools that increase community involvement. Assisting community groups in setting up effective systems, demonstrating good governance, and sharing best practices in community engagement. If you share my passion for community leadership and my curiosity about finding the tools, resources, partners, and methods that best support communities, I’d love to connect!
