About Alison Noble

As the Provost and Senior VP of Academic Affairs at Fresno Pacific University, I lead an outstanding team of faculty and administrators - educational leaders committed to educating students for leadership and service in the California Central Valley through excellence in Christian higher education. The most common FAQ for a provost might be,\"What is a provost?\" If you have a great answer to that question, let me know! In the meantime: A provost is an academic leader who loves and is committed to the well being of students and faculty, implements the academic mission of the university in a way that is consistent with the vision set by the university president and board, sits in (too) many meetings, listens well, loves learning, can communicate clearly and inspire others, is good at problem solving, and typically has an earned a Ph.D. in an academic discipline.Previously, I worked as Interim Provost, Associate Provost, Director of Faculty Development, and Professor of Chemistry at Messiah University where I served in key leadership positions, including chairperson of the ranked faculty and co-chair for Messiah’s Middle States re-accreditation, the university COVID-19 response team, and educational area strategic planning and prioritization processes. I was honored to be recognized with the 20••••17 Robert & Marilyn Smith Award for Outstanding Teaching, and have published research (often with undergraduate students as co-authors) in numerous chemistry and surface science journals including Langmuir, Applied Surface Science, and the Journal of the American Chemical Society. Prior to my time in higher education, I worked as a senior engineer for Intel Corporation. I currently serve as a member of the National Board for the Lilly Network of Church-Related Colleges and Universities and have been a panelist, speaker, and workshop leader in the areas of vocation, institutional mission, Church-related higher education, and faculty development.
