ABOUT ALISON L. VANHORN

Florida Board Certified Addictions Professional (CAP), clinician, and clinical supervisor who specializes in the treatment of individuals with substance abuse, mental health, and co-occurring disorders. Alison has worked in the field of addiction and mental health since 2015 providing quality care, individual and group therapy, crisis management, and psychoeducation for patients and their families in residential and clinical settings. Alison currently works at a distinguished treatment center as the Clinical Supervisor of Caron Renaissance programming. Alison previously held roles as a Counselor Assistant, Primary and Family Therapist, and as a Supervisor of Family Services at Caron. Alison is trained in EMDR amongst other modalities. Alison has prior experience working as an Individual and Family Therapist at an adolescent treatment center where she provided trauma informed care treating male teens who face addiction and mental health issues. Alison has extensive volunteer experience with the FBI and the Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force in Philadelphia, where she participated in a National initiative to raise awareness to addiction and human sex trafficking in 2018. As a result of her work with this initiative and her own personal experiences, Alison was asked to provide a keynote speech at the Buck’s Coalition Against Trafficking conference in PA in 2018 to raise awareness around the addiction, mental health, and human trafficking epidemics, and to promote a shift in resources and treatment available to help those impacted. Alison participated in a video recording and interview with the FBI to share her personal ordeal and rescue as a survivor of human trafficking, which can be viewed on the FBI’s website. Alison has a Masters Degree in Criminology and is currently attaining a second masters degree in Social Work at Florida Atlantic University.
