ABOUT ALISON BARWELL

I have over 30 years extensive HR experience adding strategic value and commercial insight ensuring collaborative relationships across global businesses. At Sanlam I was Head of HR in London working as a business partner and trusted adviser across the UK businesses. Prior to Sanlam I held senior HR roles at BAA Plc and Texaco (Chevron).My strengths include employee relations and law, leadership coaching and training, cultural transformation, performance management, talent and succession planning, employee engagement and regulatory compliance. I thrive addressing complex HR issues, working with multi-functional teams across different locations and I am comfortable in an environment of changing demands and levels of ambiguity and am always considered a collaborative trusted adviser. I have experience of business restructuring, cultural transformation, building organisational capability and managing the people dimension. I am proud of my excellent relationship management and influencing skills and consider myself personable, approachable, charismatic and ambitious with the ability to drive HR strategies and programmes at the most senior levels of an organisation.From 20••••16 I worked with Saracens Rugby Club on their Player Development Programme and Leadership workshops. I also coordinated a work experience programme at Sanlam as part of the “Life after professional sport” initiative. At Sanlam I was a FCA registered CF1 Executive Director and member of Exco and HR & Remuneration Committee. I was also the Founder and Chairman of Sanlam Women’s Network, HR Forum and Health & Safety Committee.
