About Alisha Morthala

My name is Alisha Morthala, and I’m an Exercise Science major and Neuroscience minor at the University of South Carolina Honors College, working toward a future in health care grounded in service, research, and patient-centered care. With a strong academic foundation—supported by awards such as the Dean’s Scholar Award, Palmetto Fellows, and being selected as a Magellan Scholar—I’m committed to lifelong learning and meaningful impact in both clinical and community settings.Through medical internships at Sandhills Rheumatology and Carolina Spine and Ortho, I’ve gained hands-on experience in patient communication, vitals monitoring, and day-to-day clinic operations. These roles have deepened my understanding of health care teamwork, strengthened my ability to connect with patients, and reinforced my passion for the field.Beyond clinical work, I’m actively involved in service and leadership through organizations like Tri Delta’s Alpha Lambda chapter where I serve as Director of Lifetime Membership, the Pre-Health Society, Fostering Felines and the Free Medical Clinic. I’ve also conducted research with the School of Behavioral Health, where I contributed to lab work and data collection focused on improving access to mental health support for underserved youth. My volunteer work with St. Jude has allowed me to combine creativity and compassion to raise funds for children battling cancer.I strive to be a well-rounded future health professional with the skills and empathy needed to support diverse communities. I’m excited to continue building experiences that prepare me for a career rooted in care, connection, and community.
