ABOUT ALISHA GREWAL
While at the University of Southern California, I have become an actor, director, writer, and producer for theatre. I have had the opportunity to study classical theatre in London, strengthen my screen-acting skills through student films, and establish my comedic instinct through an immersive improv production. I\'ve directed a student-produced play and have assisted in producing theatre in the greater LA area. In the coming months, I hope to expand my experience of directing and producing further in film, as well as learn more about casting and management.Since my 8th-grade research project on diversity in Hollywood (which, at the time, had a disappointingly low amount of media coverage), my primary motivation to pursue a career in the entertainment industry has been directly tied to creating a more diverse and inclusive industry- both on the creative and business side. This has led me to have a wide variety of interests for a career- acting, directing, producing, management, etc. can all impact the landscape of the industry in a meaningful way. As a first-generation Punjabi American, I hope to both amplify and create stories from my own community.I have been able to begin this work through my position as EDIA Co-Chair for the Theatre Students Association at USC. This organization is dedicated to advocating for the student body of the School of Dramatic Arts. My position specifically caters to addressing student concerns and working with the school administration to create a more equitable, diverse, inclusive, and accessible environment at SDA.
