ABOUT ALI HUNTER
Hello! I’m Ali, an expressive mixed media artist currently based in York, UK. I graduated with a BA inIllustration from Manchester school of Art in 2012. My work celebrates the little moments of joy and beauty found in my daily nature surroundings, which would otherwise go unnoticed. My practice of mindfulness is done through expressive mark making and loose brushwork. The process of my work mainly involves layering of oil pastel and wax pastel drawing over ink painting.My main source of inspiration comes from my daily walking commute to my workplace (The University of York), which is surrounded by flock of geese and plenty of green space. For me, it is the perfect opportunity to feel present and capture inspiration and moments of calm, which I crave after my 9-5 days. I also like to capture scenes from places I visit, as well as interior scenes incorporating animals and people.Original works and prints can be found on my online well as looking for creative and commercial opportunities, I currently work full time as a booking administrator at the University of York. I have worked with agencies in education/office admin and currently a TA in various schools.
