Ali attended Carnegie Mellon and received his JD/MBA from the University of Houston. He is a serial entrepreneur as well as an angel investor in many start ups, as well as more mature companies. Some examples of his investments include The Thayer Hotel at the U.S Military Academy at West Point, Qomplx, Rice Nuclear Diagnostics, Yesmail, Keycafe, Majestic Research, Revival Cycles, Million Air, RedJet LLC, RollinVets, Last Dollar Trucking, Moonpreneur, Wink, Everpoint Services, and Bank of Houston. He is also a Founding Judge of the Rice University Business Plan Competition, the largest of its kind in the United States. Ali’s favorite hobby is high stakes poker. In 2010, Ali was selected by the Houston Business Journal as one of Houston’s 40 Under 40 Business Leaders. Ali resides in Houston with his wife and their 3 children.
