ABOUT ALICK BROWNLEE
My name is Alick Brownlee, and I am currently working as a project engineer for Alten UK. I recently graduated from the University of Sheffield with a 2:1 MEng in Aerospace Engineering. My Master\'s dissertation looked at designing a turbine to meet the needs of a small bipropellant rocket engine, and throughout university my academic focus has been aerospace propulsion technologies and design. I have worked on multiple student projects throughout my time at university, including Project Falcon, who aimed to build a multi-use uncrewed aerial vehicle. I worked first as a design engineer for the team, before being promoted to head of flight dynamics, encompassing aerodynamics and propulsion, and then I became chief engineer of the project, leading all structures and avionics work for the team. I then began work at Project: Kestrel, an ambitious team looking to build a large uncrewed aircraft to deliver medical aid items to remote hospitals in Africa. I worked in the team as head of aerostructural engineering, and then as a project advisor, assisting the team with managerial and engineering advice and consultation. Alongside these projects I worked with Sheffield\'s SunrIde Project, on the recovery systems used to recover their ambitious \"Karman Alpha\" rocket, with a targeted maximum altitude of 50km. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking and tennis, watching Formula 1, and playing video games.
