About Alicia Mauldin

Most of my work sits in the uncomfortable space where security, scale, and real-world usage collide.I lead product for identity and access governance capabilities within Microsoft’s engineering systems, shaping how access is requested, approved, audited, and enforced across large, distributed environments. The problems are rarely clean and usually involve legacy patterns, unclear ownership, and workflows that do not fit a standard model. That is exactly the kind of work I enjoy.I have built and scaled security products from early concept through broad adoption, including a security monitoring platform and policy-driven access systems that replace fragmented or manual approaches. My background in application security and threat modeling still shapes how I think about product decisions, especially when tradeoffs are not obvious.I focus on building products that hold up under real conditions, reduce risk without creating unnecessary friction, and make security something teams can work with instead of around. I tend to spend a lot of time on edge cases and failure modes. Those are the moments where systems reveal whether they were designed with intent or only for the happy path.Outside of work, I read a lot of fantasy, play cozy games, go on D&D adventures, and live with a Ragdoll cat who is very confident she is in charge.
