About Alicia Denlinger

I\'ve served in an EHS capacity since 2005. Ten of these years were spent in chemical manufacturing. Within that role I was directly involved in several of the EH & S programs including hazardous waste management, JHA, OSHA Written Programs, management of change, incident investigation, annual safety day planning, KPI tracking, reporting and analysis. When the plant closed I spent a year consulting for a software engineeing company while developing a safety management platform focused on the tracking and PDCA cycle of leading indicator safety programs. During this time, I also worked in project management for an Asbestos, Lead and Mold remediation company; the position focused on the health and safety of individuals performing demolitions and/or remediations. Since the spring of 2016, I have been in a business development role for Fastenal Company\'s safety equipment category; providing regulatory and technical support to Fastenal sales teams and customers. In this capacity I have also had the pleasure of working side-by-side with Fastenal customers performing 3rd party OSHA audits, hazard-based PPE assessments, safety equipment inspections and awareness level training.Achievements: One past achievement was the development of a behavior-based safety program for a Fortune 500 company. This non-traditional BBS program fostered a culture of open communication, management and employee involvement, and ultimately a reporting culture shift that allowed the exposure of uncontrolled or unidentified hazards lurking beneath the surface.In my current position, I was tasked with the development of a public-facing library of safety training resources. At this time there are over fifty safety toolbox talks, available electronically to the public, branded under the name FAST Talk.Skills:Over the years I\'ve developed, and can confidently offer, knowledge in the areas of OSHA written programs, safety inspections, employee training, risk assessment, incident investigation and internal auditing, After 18 years in EH & S, here would be a some of my key take-aways.*Human error is not a root cause.*There\'s a correlation between your reporting culture and your safety record.*Telling employees what they\'re doing right can have a profound impact on production and quality output.*We can\'t expect our supervisors to identify hazards and monitor safety behaviors, if we haven\'t given them the tools (training) to do so.*Rewarding for \"Zero\" is counterproductive.
