ABOUT ALICE JENKIN

A Senior Geotechnical Engineer with 6+ years experience, currently working at Ramboll Engineering Consultancy with a Masters degree in Earth Science from the University of Oxford. My role involves planning ground investigations and scheduling geotechnical lab testing, creating ground models, assessing geohazards, and geotechnical engineering design calculations for design of major rail, highways and building projects as well as offshore wind farms. I work in the UK with people from around the world on projects in Europe, the Middle East, South Asia and in the North Sea. I enjoy working with GIS software and have used QGIS to locate prospective mining licenses for gold in unexplored regions in Africa and use ArcGIS along with GiNT/Holebase daily to competently handle big data. I use CAD software to aid my ground modelling ability and present high quality, interactive products for the client. I spend a third of my time also working with the major project persuits team in Ramboll working on tender submissions for mega transport infrastructure projects, this also involves building early stage contractor relationships. I have 6 months of solely site supervision experience including soil/rock logging to BS5930 and health and safety supervision. I am passionate about Environmental Education and encouraging young people, especially women, into STEM subjects and regularly lead work experience activities at Ramboll.Married name: Alice Martin (née Jenkin)
