At MapStand, I work at the intersection of geospatial analytics, power systems, and data engineering, helping build and maintain high-quality spatial datasets for the global energy transition.Key responsibilities:• Develop, maintain, and optimise ETL pipelines for power generation, transmission and renewable energy datasets (FME, Python, SQL, PostGIS).• Design and run data quality checks and validation routines to ensure accuracy, completeness and consistency across global power systems data.• Collaborate with research and domain experts on projects involving Power Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Decarbonization (CCUS) and Hydrogen.• Publish and maintain web services and view layers using the Esri ArcGIS Online, FME, and Python to support internal tools and client-facing products.• Support analysis on topics such as grid connectivity, renewable integration and energy infrastructure mapping, turning complex geospatial data into usable insights.Current focus:• Building my skills as a Data Engineer, including a Databricks-focused apprenticeship, and applying modern data engineering practices (version control, reusable ETL, documentation, and automation) to MapStand’s power systems datasets.
