I recently completed the Ironyard-LR\'s inaugural classes. I studied front end development. As part of our immersive studies, we dove head first into HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Sass, Bourbon, Neat, jQuery, Broccoli build tools, Backbone, Marionette, Sails, and most recently Ember.js, focusing on Ember CLI, & Materialize. For our final projects, I teamed up with my.Net partner, Scott Ferguson, together we built \'Byrth\', a labor tracker and communications system for expectant mothers. We built many features using Ember. We also connected it to an API so that we could build on to it and use it as a template for another healthcare based application centered around diabetes mgmt. I have found deep purpose and meaning in my work as a front end developer and I can\'t wait to see what the future brings. I do plan to continue introducing younger generations to the joy and excitement of computer science, and helping them find their passion within this ever growing tech ecosystem. I love to learn and grow. The human spirit and the human mind truly amaze me. I have seen the darker corners of the human experience, but because of that, I am able to have an incredible appreciation for the brightest and the most beautiful. I plan to continue to share my skills in tech in hopes of molding tomorrows leaders, I just want to do my part to cause a little ripple that may one day turn into a tsunami.

This is a very challenging environment that tests your physical and mental abilities. It requires fast and slow thinking and a constant state of flow. You are constantly met with obstacles both physical, social and psychological and you have to work through them as a team to help the business run smoothly. We have a great dependence on IT and also experience real world hiccups. I have learned that this job is reliant upon teamwork and deep concentration as well as learning to use technology to your advantage in a real life scenario. You must mitigate risk at every corner and make it look easy. They call this a restaurant but it is way more magical and complex.
