About Ali Syverson
I have spent the past decade communicating and writing about progressive social issues for both the private and public sector, in domestic and international settings. My specialty is taking a complex topic and distilling it into a compelling story for the audience at hand. I have extensive experience in the full suite of communications planning and direction, speechwriting, long form narratives and storytelling, event management and external engagement, managing press inquiries, and supporting high level principals. I started my career working on ESG teams for Fortune 500 companies where I worked on initiatives addressing domestic violence and food insecurity in the US. Later, I transitioned into working for the federal government at the US Agency for International Development, where I was a communications advisor for our global environment and food security portfolios. While at USAID, I communicated in-depth about cause areas including climate change, renewable energy, ocean plastics, air pollution, infrastructure, and food security. Throughout my experiences, I have spent time writing and reporting in Asia, MENA, Africa, and the Pacific Islands.In addition to my career as a communicator, I am also an artist specializing in acrylic paintings, with a focus on conservation, connection, and storytelling.
