ABOUT ALI KEFEL

Engineering, ingenuity, and curiosity have shaped every chapter of my life. My family and I have lived in three distinct countries around the world, from the prodigious cedars of Lebanon and the aromatic perfumes of Arabia to the prominent ice-capped mountains of Canada. As the environment and individuals surrounding me evolved, the one aspect that remained constant was my passion for ameliorating the lives of others through engineering and innovation. I am currently a second-year Civil Engineering & Society student at McMaster University with an interest in structural & transportation engineering. My academic journey has consistently been powered by a deep enthusiasm for infrastructure, sustainability, and mobility. What interests me the most is merging these fields of study to develop innovative projects that make a lasting difference. My time management and critical thinking skills have been honed through a blend of academic pursuits, volunteer work, and leadership roles. As a member of the McMaster Steel Bridge team, I have honed my technical skills in design, fabrication, and collaboration, contributing to innovative projects that push the boundaries of engineering excellence. I believe in learning by achieving, and my portfolio of past endeavors is a testament to my philosophy. Outside the classroom, my leadership role in scouting has allowed me to develop skills in organization, mentorship, and community building. Whether guiding the next generation of leaders or managing engaging projects, I take pride in fostering environments where teamwork and creativity thrive. I believe that engineering is not just a discipline but a medium to inspire and build a more sustainable and equitable future. Through dedication, collaboration, and a drive with purpose, I strive to leave a lasting mark on the world.
