ABOUT ALI GHORBANPOUR
I began my professional journey in 2017 with a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering, focusing on AI and ML courses. Alongside my studies, I served as a teaching assistant for over ten courses, completed a research internship at Tapsell Co. on applied deep learning and data engineering, and worked as a research assistant exploring applied machine learning and software engineering. These experiences laid the groundwork for my graduate studies and prepared me to grow as an independent researcher and engineer. In 2022, I was admitted to five graduate programs (two Ph.D. and three M.Sc.) and chose to pursue a thesis-based Master’s at the Network and Multimedia Systems Lab at Simon Fraser University under the supervision of Professor Mohamed Hefeeda. My research centered on multimedia forensics, integrating multimedia, computer vision, and security. Along with teaching assistant duties and graduate courses in NLP, ML, Data Mining, and Reinforcement Learning, I contributed to papers published in ACM Multimedia Systems and another under revision for ACM Transactions on Multimedia. My projects emphasized computer vision, deep learning, and AI security, aiming to improve the authenticity of multimedia content through innovative methods. Now in 2025, I am actively seeking opportunities to apply my background in applied machine learning and deep learning to practical challenges and bring value to AI-driven teams in North America. While I primarily aim for data or machine learning scientist and engineer roles, I am open to other relevant paths in this field.
