Gehr Development engages in the ownership and operation of hospitality, commercial, retail, industrial and residential real estate in California, New York, and Florida. In the past 30 years, Gehr Development has owned and operated over residential units and over square feet of industrial, office and retail space. In February 2009, Gehr Development expanded into the hospitality field with the acquisition of a 34-story hotel property in Manhattan, New York, located near Times Square. Later that year, Gehr Development opened Sky Room, Manhattan’s tallest rooftop lounge, and in June 2011 it acquired a second 34-story hotel property, also located near Times Square. This latest addition is part of an ongoing strategy of acquiring high-quality hospitality and multi-family assets in gateway U.S. cities such as Los Angeles, Washington DC, and South Beach Miami, Florida.Before Gehr, Alfred Somekh served for 12 years at the Legacy Partners / Lincoln Property Company, in leadership positions focused on the company\'s business development and property management activities. Alfred also served for five years as Vice President of Real Estate Asset Management in the US for Heron International. Gehr Development Corporation is the Real Estate Division of The Gehr Group, which is a diversified company with interests in real estate, hospitality, manufacturing, wholesale/distribution and international trade of high-tech defense equipment.
