As the Director of Transportation for the Shenendehowa Central School District I’m responsible for the safe and efficient school bus transportation system, and for the administration of the department’s budget of approximately 10 million dollars. Shen has the largest school district-owned bus fleet in the Capital District located 20 miles north of Albany, NY. Shen covers an area of approximately 86 square miles. Shen’s fleet average approximately 2 million miles each year transporting students to over 80 different schools located throughout the Capital District. Our routing specialists are responsible for routing approx. 10,500 students. Our transportation staff is approx. 250 highly motivated professionals which includes 13 mechanics that have a remarkable DOT Inspection record. Our mechanics are capable of performing preventive and corrective maintenance from body work, to electrical to rebuilding engines if necessary.
