ABOUT ALFONSO FUGGETTA
I work at the intersection of research, industry, and public policy on digital transformation and innovation. I have been doing this for over thirty years — as a professor, as a CEO, and as an advisor to companies and institutions. I am Full Professor of Computer Science at Politecnico di Milano, ranked in the top 2% of researchers worldwide (Stanford–Elsevier 2025). From October 2024 to December 2025, I served as Chief Digital Transformation Officer at Ferrari. Before that, I was CEO and Scientific Director of Cefriel for over twenty years (2003–2024), growing it from a university research lab into a 150-person digital innovation center with €16M+ in annual revenue and shareholders including Politecnico di Milano, Microsoft, Pirelli, Eni, TIM, and Vodafone. I write on Substack — \"A bassa voce\" — about technology, innovation, and society. I have authored five books on innovation, digital citizenship, and management. Earlier in my career, I was CEO of Nesting (2008–2011), a Faculty Associate at the Institute for Software Research, UC Irvine and a Visiting Professor at UC Boulder and NTNU, Norway. I hold an Advanced Certificate for Executives (ACE) in Management, Innovation, and Technology from MIT Sloan, along with three MIT Executive Certificates.
