ABOUT ALEXANDRA WNUK
I am a first-year Ph.D. student in materials science and engineering (MSE) at Georgia Tech. My research focuses on vapor phase infiltration, a process of transforming polymers into organic-inorganic hybrid materials, which can be used for textile finishing. Driven by a long-standing passion for both engineering and fashion, I am interested in exploring how MSE can reshape the future of apparel through more functional and innovative textiles. I earned my undergraduate degree in MSE from Lehigh University, where I also had the opportunity to study abroad in Milan, Italy, immersing myself in fashion, design, and even attend runway shows. Outside the lab, I actively sell clothing on Depop and have recently begun participating in Atlanta-area markets, combining entrepreneurship with my love for clothes. My long-term goal is to bridge academic research and apparel design, applying scientific innovation to create functional, more intentional apparel.
