ABOUT ALEX WHINNOM
PLEASE READ THIS: I will not link with people I don\'t know unless there is a reason - so please tell me why! I am now semi-retired working as a choir leader. I am still involved in some volunteering and campaigning on climate, trans rights and asylum rights. But mostly enjoying family, friends and walking. I am no longer involved with the wider VCSE sector, other than keeping an interested eye on it and I\'m not looking for work (paid or unpaid). But I\'m always happy to have a chat. I was the Chief Executive of Greater Manchester Centre for Voluntary Organisation (GMCVO) Jan 2003-Sep 2021 and left having developed it into a highly successful and sustainable organisation with a brilliant team. I am sad and angry to see it closed. Before coming to GMCVO, I worked for 20 years in social housing – hostels for homeless people, Manchester Methodist Housing Association (now Great Places), Housing Federation North. I\'ve also done my share as a charity and public sector non-exec director.
