I support individuals with Learning Disabilities within a Supported Living setting. My role as a Support Worker is to offer emotional support, assist with cooking, cleaning and personal care, administer medication and support with finances. During a 1:1 day, I would also support the people we support into the community to do activities, attend appointments, to the bank and go shopping. Since being with Mencap, I have transferred to one of their Plymouth homes within a Residential Care setting. Supporting individuals that have mobility issues and a variety of different needs; Learning Disabilities, Down Syndrome, Dementia, Deaf and Blindness, Cerebral Palsy. Assisting with transfers via hoists, personal care, administering medication and preparation of food and drinks in line with their SALT Assessments; thickening of drinks, blending of foods.
