Selected as one of a cohort of thirty to join the Laidlaw Scholars Fellowship. Received funding and mentorship to conduct research on project of our choosing. Also received funding from the Columbia Undergraduate Scholars Program. This project consisted of a statistical analysis of the impact of community groups on incarcerated individuals\' rule violation rates; essentially, whether being a part of a group (like a religious group) made incarcerated individuals less likely to commit rule violations. Found statistically significant correlation between community involvement and rule violation rates. Intend on continuing this research. Worked with Sociology Professor Adam Reich, Ph.D, and Nicholas Deas, Ph.D Candidate.Presented at the Columbia Undergraduate Research Symposium.
