About Alex McCarthy

I have launched and managed dozens of successful product families and successfully built product management teams at multiple companies. I combine my product management, software and hardware, marketing, and sales experience with laser focus on solving customer problems to increase revenue and profitability. I bring a wide breadth of experience to the challenges businesses face. I have worked- with hardware, software, mobile, web and professional service products - at companies ranging from startups to global enterprises - in IoT, oil and gas, automation, communications, and educational markets I have worked with McKinsey, Emerson, Ingram-Micro and many other companies to tackle their product management challenges. These include training, initial customer discovery, differentiation, pricing, and profitability. I have also helped organizations assess their product management team and developed growth plans. As an instructor, I work with product managers to advance their product management expertise – including soft and hard skills. At General Assembly, a provider of award-winning, dynamic training to close the global skills gap, I consistently have one of the top NPS and customer satisfaction scores. I am an inaugural member of their Distinguished Faculty (the top 200 instructors out of about worldwide), on the Product Advisory Board and updated the PM curriculum. I am a leader in the Austin PM community- founding organizer of Product Tank Austin - award winning presenter at multiple ProductCamp Austin conferences - sponsor for Product Job Club. I also support multiple local job-search and educational charities.
