ABOUT ALEX MCKENNA
My motivator through day-to-day life is understanding the lives and histories of people. Everyone has their own story that influences who they are, and I constantly strive to learn that story. As a Marketing student at Champlain College’s Stiller School of Business, I have been granted the opportunity to apply my motivations to a future career. Live-client projects allow me to be creative in my proposals and see where a campaign may be able to motivate or inspire a target market. Through internships in the U.S. and Ireland, I have been able to apply my course knowledge as well as learn new skills. Having studied abroad in the spring of 2020, my adaptability to remote work has become a skill that has only strengthened over the past few months.Outside of marketing, I have also been a Site Director for City Parks, a non-profit free tennis program for NYC kids. After growing up in the program myself for 12 years (from age 5–17), I developed strong leadership and teamwork skills in a professional setting while also \"marketing\" tennis to kids aged 6–17. Successfully retaining kids in the program during hot summers and an increasingly digitized society is no small feat: everyone on my team developed strong resiliency in addition to our friendships with one another as a result. With my experiences in both career-related and general work, I am eager to collaborate with others and ready when faced with a challenge. My time abroad incorporated both personal and professional experiences, which have made me more culturally intelligent, adaptable to different work environments, and comfortable with diverse teams.Banner photo: View from An Grianan of Aileach in Donegal, Ireland during my semester abroad (Spring 2020)
