About Alex Kreilein
Alex Kreilein is Vice President of Product Security at Qualys. He focuses on delivering security and quality improvement outcomes across a portfolio of award winning products to ensure the highest standards of security, trust, and compliance.Previously Alex was a Senior Technical Program Manager at Microsoft Azure. He was a lead program architect, Product Manager, and founding team member of the Azure Mission Critical team. He focused on resiliency engineering and end-to-end test automation, delivering outcomes to Microsoft customers in strategic sectors such as health technology, financial services, public safety, and defense.Prior to Microsoft, Alex was Chief Information Security Officer for RapidDeploy, a growth-stage SaaS company in the public safety sector. He founded the company\'s security program and delivered mature security outcomes across application, infrastructure, and corporate IT security using cloud-native and DevSecOps capabilities. This approach facilitated business and compliance outcomes, leading to significant revenue growth and unprecedented customer trust. He managed cybersecurity and risk over a wide range of workstreams for the company. He was the principal architect of the company’s security program, oversaw all security operations, managed compliance, and supported other strategic functions of the company. Previously, Alex was Managing Partner of Darkfield, an investment platform and accelerator focused on product development in the cybersecurity space. Separately, he cofounded SecureSet, an education technology company that delivered the country’s first cybersecurity bootcamp building knowledge, skills, and abilities in a new generation of analysts and engineers.Alex held a tenured career in the Federal Government of the United States, having been a strategist at the Department of Homeland Security, a Guest Researcher to the National Institute of Standards & Technology, and a Legislative Assistant for Congresswoman Jane Harman.Alex is a graduate of CU Boulder\'s College of Engineering and Applied Science with a M.S. in Telecommunications Science and the US Naval War College with a M.A. in National Security & Strategic Studies. He is also a graduate of Fordham University and attended the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, China.
