About Alexis R. S.
I am an applied demographer and population health scientist. The interdisciplinary nature of Demography has allowed me to pursue research in social and health sciences. After my PhD and prior to joining Penn State, I served as Demography/Biostatistics Research Fellow funded by The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE).In my research, employ self-reported and objective health measures to examine (1) the level of correspondence between objective and subjective markers concerning minority health and (2) heterogeneity in the experiences of historically minoritized populations. I also leverage demographic data and methods (census, estimates, births, deaths, etc.) to understand the demographic dynamics and aging.
