About Alexis Castel
Ph.D. mechanical engineer with an MBA, specializing in aerospace vibro-acoustics, structural dynamics, and numerical simulation. More than 12 years of experience spanning advanced simulation, applied engineering, technical leadership, and workflow development for aerospace applications. Current work at Keysight Technologies focuses on supporting aerospace customers with complex simulation workflows, technical training, and methodology development. Previous work at ZIN Technologies included acoustic simulation, verification, and acoustic treatment development for the Space Launch System Universal Stage Adapter program.Known for combining deep technical analysis with practical engineering judgment to turn complex physical problems into credible models, efficient workflows, and decision-ready results. Experience spans simulation, test correlation, software-enabled process improvement, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration across engineering, product, and customer-facing teams.Highlights:• Technical expert in aerospace vibro-acoustics, structural dynamics, and numerical simulation• Experience supporting aerospace customers through simulation workflows, presales studies, training, and methodology development• Background in launch vehicle and payload acoustic environments, model verification and validation, and acoustic treatment development• Proven ability to connect simulation, testing, and engineering workflow improvement• Mentor and technical coach with experience developing engineers and translating complex topics for diverse audiences• Publication background in vibration and acoustics, with prior university lab teaching experienceCore areas:• Aerospace vibro-acoustics and structural dynamics• Numerical simulation and systems modeling• Acoustic environments, test correlation, and verification/validation• Finite element, boundary element, and statistical energy analysis methods• Shock simulation, damping modeling, and uncertainty-aware analysis• Technical training, mentoring, and engineering communication
Experience
Technical Expert Aerospace Vibroacoustics
Jan 2022 — Present · Cleveland, OH, US
Continued in the same role following the integration of ESI Group with Keysight Technologies in May 2025.→ Provides technical expertise for structural dynamics and acoustic simulations for aerospace applications. Activities focused on customer specific projects, presales studies and training development.→ Takes part in engineering software development planning sessions ensuring customer feedback is accounted for. Participates in developing feature acceptance criteria.→ Management and technical coaching of a team of three application engineers.Methodology development:→ Simulation resource and time requirement prediction based on large data sets of previous models solve log using Bayesian regressions.→ Development of a Bayesian optimization for rapid probabilistic estimations of overall level on frequency response coupled finite element-boundary element models.→ Shock simulation using the virtual mode synthesis and the finite element method (implicit and explicit non-linear transient formulations).→ Damping projection models using the modal strain energy.Feature prototyping using the Python environment as part of the methodology development, allowing for early acceptance from the customer before feature development.
