ABOUT ALEXIS ZIRKLE

I am a Bachelor of Science in Nursing student at Purdue University School of Nursing with hands-on experience in high-acuity and long-term care settings. I currently work as a Patient Care Technician at Franciscan Health, where I support Emergency Room and Clinical Decision Unit operations through rapid patient assessment, EKGs, phlebotomy, vital sign monitoring, and safe patient handling in fast-paced, high-stress environments.Previously, I worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant, providing comprehensive care to residents and building strong, trusting relationships with patients and families while maintaining a strong focus on safety, dignity, and early identification of clinical changes.In addition to clinical experience, I am highly involved in leadership and service at Purdue. I serve as a Simulation Scholar, assisting with high-fidelity simulations and mentoring nursing students to strengthen clinical skills and confidence. I am also an active member of the Purdue Student Nurses Association and have held leadership roles including Vice President of Philanthropy for Alpha Chi Omega, where I managed service initiatives, coordinated fundraising efforts, and designed outreach materials.My commitment to academic excellence and patient-centered care has been recognized through induction into Phi Kappa Phi, placement on the Dean’s List, and being a two-time recipient of the Nursing Fundamentals Nurse Bee Award.I am passionate about compassionate, evidence-based nursing care, interdisciplinary teamwork, and continuous professional growth. I am eager to expand my clinical skills and contribute meaningfully to patient outcomes as I progress toward my nursing career.
