ABOUT ALEXIS J. FITZGERALD

As an innovative and dynamic leader with over seven years of experience in comprehensive communication, I am deeply passionate about crafting impactful brand strategies that support high-profile organizations. My expertise lies in managing complex cross-functional communication plans and delivering successful public relations strategies, crisis communication, marketing materials, project management, and creative direction.Currently, I am serving as the Strategic Communications Executive at Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS). MSCS ranks as the twenty-fifth largest school district in the U.S, educating over students. Additionally, it stands as the second-largest employer in Memphis, TN, with a workforce of over employees. In this role, I facilitate interactions between the Shelby County Board of Education, executive district leaders, employees, and community stakeholders. I am responsible for coordinating speaking engagements for senior leadership and creating time-sensitive communications, such as presentations, letters, proposals, and newsletters. Additionally, I act as the media relations liaison, fostering relationships with local and national news outlets. Through these efforts, we achieved an 8% improvement in media tonality for the 2022-23 school year, with an average of 89% positive or neutral news coverage and online mentions nationally and locally.I have learned from experience that a combination of compelling visuals, positive energy, organized project management, refined writing, and flawless execution leads to high client satisfaction.
