ABOUT ALEXIS E. KLAPHEKE

Alexis is a staff attorney for the Jefferson Circuit Court and a recent graduate of the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law, having obtained her Juris Doctor magna cum laude in preparation for work in the state judiciary.Alexis is experienced at drafting, serving, and electronically filing pleadings, motions, and discovery requests and responses, as well as assembling corresponding exhibits, for various civil and criminal matters. She has had ample opportunities to assist attorneys with preparations for hearings, motion hours, depositions, oral arguments, and trials in state and federal courts, along with negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. In addition, she is highly proficient in Lexis and Westlaw databases and is skilled at researching complex issues in various areas of law.Alexis graduated summa cum laude from the University of Louisville with three Bachelor of Arts degrees in Philosophy, Latin American and Latino Studies, and Immigration Legal Studies, as well as a minor in Spanish, during which time she completed a Senior Honors Thesis discussing linguistic and cultural training for immigration attorneys representing undocumented Oaxacan immigrants in the United States.Alongside her undergraduate and professional studies, Alexis has acquired valuable legal experience in courts, private firms, and non-profit settings.
