Career Experiences:Alex’s career experiences include building software that millions use daily (Alexa), embedded software, 2 software exits, founding a non profit in Mozambique that has impacted tens of thousands of women since 2010, venture capital investing, and managing machine learning, engineering, and design teams.Bio:Alex started his career living in Mozambique, Africa, where he co-founded the Regenesis Foundation. Since its founding in 2010, the foundation has built schools and helped tens of thousands of Mozambican women obtain education and vocational training.Alex attended Harvard’s MBA program. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Brigham Young University, where he graduated Tau Beta Pi and obtained the degree in just over 3 years, while founding and selling a Machine Learning software product with longtime friend Alex Blickenstaff.Alex is a Software Engineer at heart. He was an early Engineer on Amazon Echo & Alexa. He worked on Alexa’s “brain” — the AI/ML software that powers 1B+ Alexa-enabled devices. Alex has built APIs and Artificial Intelligence web services with millions of transactions per second.I am an Engineer. I apply algorithmic thinking to whatever work on—from human dynamics to software investing.I try to stay humble-allergic to elitism and revel in having friends from many cultures, stages, and walks of life.
