ABOUT ALEX DENSLOW

I am a partner in the Insurance and Reinsurance Group at CMS and Head of CMS\' Insurance Sector Group. I advise many of the largest global insurers and reinsurers upon all types of inwards and outwards reinsurance and retrocession disputes, both on a facultative and treaty basis, across non-marine (particularly property and casualty) and marine (cargo, freight liability and offshore energy) classes of business. I also have extensive experience of defending brokers and coverholders and their errors and omissions insurers, often in major multi-party disputes. I also handle the defence of a wide variety of professional indemnity disputes for the insurers of solicitors, surveyors, accountants and IFAs.I have considerable trial experience and have been involved in several landmark cases including Bonner-v-Cox (\"the 77 Energy Cover\"); Taylor Aston-v-Aon; Nicholas G Jones-v-Environcom; Aspen Insurance UK Limited-v-Adana Construction Limited. I have successfully acted in numerous arbitrations which are not reported due to their confidential nature. I provide tailored risk management training to clients and have lectured extensively on legal issues affecting the insurance and reinsurance market. I am a co-author of the leading English legal textbook \"Insurance Broking Practice and the Law\". I have held in-house legal positions at Miller Insurance Services Limited, Markel International and Aon Limited and my legal advice is underpinned by an understanding of how the insurance market operates. I am a recommended partner in The Legal 500, an independent survey of law fims carried out with insurance and reinsurance clients.
