About Alexandra Wharton

Alex is executive vice president of Circadian Sleep Disorders Network and the state chapter leader for Start School Later – Texas. She completes a 4-year term as a board member representing circadian rhythm disorder patients on the NIH’s SDRAB in 2025. She serves as the circadian rhythm sleep disorder patient representative on the AASM Patient Roundtable and represents CSD-N at the annual SLEEP conference. Alexandra’s interest in building awareness about Delayed Sleep Wake Phase Disorder (DSWPD) began in 2016, when she created Delayed Sleeper, a portfolio of her writings about DSPD. She has 25 years of digital communication experience, previously serving as a vice president of Newsy, a multi-source video news app/service, and senior reporter at Revenue magazine, which covered the performance and search marketing space. She taught an Audience Development class at the Missouri School of Journalism for 10 semesters.She has been an invited speaker at NCSDR’s Sleep Research Plan Congressional Briefing in 2022, APSS’ SLEEP conference in 2023, Albany Medical School in 2022, NIH’s Sleep Disorders Research Advisory Board in 2024, Sleep Advocacy Forum / Project Sleep in 2020, Stanford Medicine X conference in 2019 and Micron Technology’s Global Employee Resource Group in 2022.
